Out of all the songs we’ve written to date - I Forgive Us All Bro is the one I find hardest to talk about. Most of our lyrics are observations - telling stories and imagining characters; but this one is deeply personal. It’s raw and honest and angular in a way that I initially found very difficult. Essentially, it's a song about masculinity, gender and misogyny (a slightly weightier topic than the baccy man of Hyde Park). ‘Manliness’ is something I often think about - the way the emotional development of boys is stunted, robbed of the ability to be vulnerable or sensitive, and the inevitably toxic impact that has on women.
It also stands out sonically from the other tracks - it's slower, less even and features orchestral instruments.
